Mabe are Back in full Song

May has been a month of mixed fortunes for our Ladies at Mabe Ladies Choir. We began the month with our first formal concert since the start of the pandemic. We were delighted to travel to the Church os St Pol de Leon in Paul to share a concert with our good friends Penzance Orpheus Ladies Choir & their MD Steven Lawry. The choirs were on great form, Mabe sang with delicacy, beauty, feeling and gusto as they carried the audience through from the Humming Chorus from Madam Butterfly through bespoke folk song arrangements & compositions by accompanist Rico Gerber via a quick visit to an African music theme to an old favourite The Seal Lullaby finishing with gusto and rhythm on New York New York. A wonderful evening was had by everyone, with delicious refreshments afterwards and plenty of happy chatter. We can't wait to invite Penzance Orpheus Ladies to come and sing with us in Falmouth .

Sad to say, Mabe were dogged by Covid at the end of May and were devastated to have to withdraw from our joint concert with Treverva MVC , a concert to raise money for Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The concert was a huge success, singing to a full church at All Saints Falmouth, raising over £2000 for Ukraine, Congratulations to Treverva for saving the day. Members of Mabe Ladies who were unaffected by Covid attended and supported, our raffle prizes were added to the Raffle and we helped man the doors. we will collaborate again soon. Our Jubilee celebrations were marred also, but all are getting better, thank God and we are looking forward to concerts in July & August.
